H. C. (BUDDY) HENRY, JR.

Buddy Henry currently serves as a Director of Georgia Commerce Bank as well as Georgia Commerce Bancshares, Inc.

Mr. Henry spent the first 32 years of his professional career in the telecommunications industry working for BellSouth. During the last five years of his service there he was Executive Vice President in the office of the Chairman and was responsible for advertising, public relations, human resources, auditing, and corporate support. Prior to that assignment, he served for five years as President of BellSouth’s Florida operations which included supervision of 20,000 employees and a multi-billion dollar budget. Buddy retired from BellSouth in 1997.

Since that time Mr. Henry has divided his time between community service, private investing, farming, and being an at-home father to his five young children – Bonnie and Calvin who are 13 year old twins, and Helene, Sean and Caroline who are 11 year old triplets. He is immediate past Chairman of the Board of the independent school – High Meadows – that all five children attend.

A native of Columbia, South Carolina, Mr. Henry graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1967 with a BS degree in math and physics and later earned an MBA degree from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida.

Mr. Henry and his wife Lynn run a 60-acre farm in Woodstock, Ga., where they board and raise ponies and thoroughbred horses and train young riders. In addition, their farm serves as the local “zoo” for many community functions because they have buffalo, peacocks, rabbits, cats, and dogs that children love to visit.

Mr. Henry also serves on the Board of Directors of MedicAlert Foundation – International, is a member of the Advisory Board of the Cherokee County United Way, and is a member of the Orange Bowl Committee. He enjoys water sports, tennis, and traveling with his family.
