(TED) JOHN BRUNO
Ted Bruno currently serves as a Director of Georgia Commerce Bank as well as Georgia Commerce Bancshares, Inc. Mr. Bruno is also Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Progressive Wire & Cable, Inc. with branch offices located in Atlanta, Georgia and Tampa, Florida.
Mr. Bruno founded Wire and Cable Specialties Corporation and served as its Chief Executive Officer and Chairman from 1980 to 1997. In this position, he directed the growth of his start-up company to become a national distributor of specialty electronic and electrical wire and cable. Through electrical distributors, this company supplied large OEM's, transit authorities, automotive, oil and gas, and paper and pulp industries with hard to get specialty cable on a "just in time basis." As a national company with six regional sales and distribution centers, WCS registered with the SEC and was approved to go public in mid -1996. During the final stages of the public offering the company was approached by a listed New York Stock Exchange company and subsequently merged with Kent Electronics Corporation of Houston, Texas in January 1997. Mr. Bruno served as a Vice President and management consultant until April of 2001. Kent then merged with Avnet Corporation of Phoenix, Arizona. Mr. Bruno no longer has an affiliation.
Prior to 1980, Mr. Bruno worked in the electrical cable business with Ace Wire and Cable, New York, New York. He started as a salesman in 1970 and left as a Vice President of Sales to start his own specialty cable company.
Mr. Bruno has served on the board of Big Brothers / Big Sisters of Atlanta, Georgia and has been active with various charities over the years.
Prior to 1970, Mr. Bruno served in the U. S. Army from 1966 to 1969 and is a Vietnam Veteran. He served with the 75th infantry.
Mr. Bruno and his wife Dianne divide their time between their homes in Atlanta, Georgia and Ormond Beach, Florida. He enjoys golf and Dianne enjoys tennis.
